DEVO. 12.16.24
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” (Revelation 3:20 NIV)
- Imagine that your best friend is coming over to visit you.
- You have planned and prepared everything for their visit and then they say “Here I am!”
- What are you going to do?
- Are you going to sit around and wait for someone else to get the door? Are you too busy and preoccupied with your own stuff to get to the door? Or would you run to get it and greet them?
- I feel an urgency in this message!
- This is Jesus, your best friend, saying to the church, “Here I am!”
- He is very close in proximity!
- Better yet, this is more than your best friend. This is the groom, saying to His bride, Here is am!
- I really believe that the church, (The Bride of Christ) as a whole, needs to wake up, and run to greet Him!
- Remember, the church is His people, not a building.
- If you call yourself a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ, then this means you!
- We, need to stop Everything else that we are doing and run to meet Him.
- Nothing is more important than greeting Him and hearing what He has to say!
- He says, “If anyone hears my voice and opens the door…”
- “Anyone”, means it’s an open invitation.
- “Hears my voice” also means that there are those who will not hear His voice.
- There will be those who are too busy to hear His voice.
- But to those who hear His voice and run to greet Him, He gives a promise.
- He says, “I will come in and eat with that person”!
- He wants to spend time with that person!
- Will you be “That Person”?
- “That person”, is the one who hears Him.
- “That Person”, is the one who runs to get the door and welcome Him in!
- “That person”, is the one like, Mary (Luke 10) who sat at Jesus feet because she just wanted to listen and be in His presence.
- Others, will be like Martha who was busy getting things ready and thinking that, that was more important.
- Today, stop everything you are doing, that you think, is so important, and “Hear His voice”
- Stopping to open the door and welcome Him in is the most important thing that you could do right now!
- Being with Him, in His presence, is Life itself!
- Have a great Monday!
