DEVO. 10.21.24
“A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls.” (Proverbs 25:28 NLT)
- Do you have self control?
- Many times we can miss the area of our life where we lack self-control because we tend to focus on the area that we have great self-control.
- Not having self control is compared to a city with broken down walls!
- That simply means that that city has no protection.
- If you have walls, it will prevent anybody from coming into your home. If you have no walls, then, just anyone can come in and go out.
- Walls are both protective and preventative.
- For example, if you have no self control over what you eat, you will soon become unhealthy and overweight.
- No self control will lead to physical ruin.
- If you have no self control over your mouth, then you will let anything that you think of fly out your mouth and you will harm people with critical, judgmental words and destroy relationships.
- If you have no self control over the things that you watch or listen to, you are setting yourself up for trouble!
- Your mind and heart can be filled with all kinds of moral trash that will destroy you.
- Today, identify the area where you have a breach in your walls.
- The area that you lack self control.
- Target it. Invite the Holy Spirit in to help build up the area that is broken down.
- Galatians 5:22-23 tells us, The fruit of the Spirit of God is: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
- Self Control is a fruit! It is evidence that the Spirit of God is at work in your life.
- No Spirit, No Fruit!
- Know the Spirit and you will know His Fruit!
- Today, begin to build up areas that have been broken down.
- Have a great Monday!
