DEVO. 10.02.24
“However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows.” (Matthew 24:36 NLT)
- This evening at sundown is God’s Feast day, Rosh Hashana.
- It starts at sundown tonight and ends after nightfall on October 4th.
- It’s the start of the Jewish New Year!
- It’s a time of new beginnings and a fresh start.
- It’s also know as the Feast where “no one knows the day or the hour” because the New Year does not begin until the sighting of the New Moon.
- As soon as the new moon is spotted they blow the shofar to announce the year!
- It’s a time of watching and waiting.
- Jesus says, “You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.” (Matt. 24:44)
- Jesus said that His return would be like this and He said, be ready.
- Be ready because it will be a time when you, “Least expect it!”
- Not when everyone is expecting but when everyone is caught up in themselves and their own busy lives.
- So, how are you to be ready?
- We cleanse ourselves.
- Repent of any known or unknown sin.
- Ask forgiveness and extend forgiveness.
- Also, Un-Busy yourself. Make time for the Lord.
- Start making time in the Word and time in prayer a priority!
- Humble yourself before the Lord and prepare as if today is the day that He could return.
- And then love others well!
- Share Christ love with all those around you!
- Make an impact for the kingdom!
- Be watching and waiting!
- Have a great Rosh Hashana!
