DEVO 06.03.24

DEVO. 06.03.24

“A third time he asked him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” …He said, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Then feed my sheep.” (‭‭John‬ ‭21‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

- One of the most important questions that Peter was ever asked was if he loved the Lord.

- This is after Peter had denied even knowing Jesus.

- Peter had failed and probably felt like a failure.

- And just as Peter had denied Jesus 3 times, Jesus gave him an opportunity to restate his Love for Jesus 3 times.

- Not only does Jesus reinstate Peter but He commissions him to feed His Lambs.

- Jesus’ question of love takes it from an intelligent and purposeful love, primarily of the mind and will to a more personal and “feeling” love.

- Jesus indicates that Peter’s love must be not only of the will but of the heart.

- It’s a love that springs from both purpose and personal attachment.

- This is the question that Jesus will ask all of us.

- Do you truly Love Him?

- Them out of that deep heartfelt love for Jesus, you feed His sheep!

- Don’t mix up the order. Love Him first. Otherwise, your service will turn into legalism.

- Notice it’s “His Sheep”.

- Jesus said, “When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’”(Matthew‬ ‭25‬:‭40‬)

- That’s what we were doing in Kenya.

- We were providing Gods Word to “The least of these”

- It flows out of a love for Jesus and a love for His Word!

- We love Jesus, first, then, Christ Love “compels us!”

- It’s not okay for people not to know of the love of Christ as we see in the Word!

- So we went above and beyond to tell them and show them the Love of Christ.

- All of us can do this every day with those around us!

- Open your spiritual eyes and ask Jesus to show you those who you need to share the love of Christ with.

- Go and tell!

- Have a great Monday!
