DEVO. 05.27.24
“How sweet your words taste to me; they are sweeter than honey.” (Psalms 119:103 NLT)
- The Rabbi’s would take their disciples and they would have a slate of honey and they would put a drop on their disciples tongue to teach them that the Word of God was sweet.
- Yesterday, I brought all of the children who were sitting with us in church, to line up in the front.
- I handed them all 2 lollipops (this was the closest thing that I had to honey).
- Everyone took a lollipop (even the head Bishop who later asked me for another one! Ha!)
- Then I read the scripture of the day.
- I told them that every time they read the word of God, remember the sweetness of the Word. And every time they had a lollipop, remember that the Word of God brings sweetness.
- Now imagine if they never had any honey or a lollipop.
- They would have nothing to compare.
- They would never know what I was talking about.
- That’s what it’s like here in Kenya.
- There are many places that do not have the Word of God in their language.
- So when you tell them of the blessings found in the Word of God, they don’t have them.
- When you tell them of the Hope found in the Word of God, well they are hopeless.
- They don’t have it and they can’t read it.
- If they don’t have it then they can’t experience all of the blessings found in it.
- You can’t hold tightly to the Word of God if there is nothing in your hand or heart to hold tight.
- That’s the importance of what we are doing.
- We are taking a drop of honey and placing it on the tongues of those who haven’t tasted of the sweetness of Gods Word.
- And they are craving a drop!
- As we bring these Bibles, we are saying, “Taste and see that the Lord is good.”
- We are not just talking about what honey tastes like, we are giving them a taste!
- We are letting them taste for themselves.
- Now, we place a Bible in their hands so that they don’t just have a taste but so they can keep on tasting and experiencing for themselves!
- God bless you!
- Have a great Monday!
