DEVO. 04.04.25
“I tell you, this sinner, not the Pharisee, returned home justified before God. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
(Luke 18:14 NLT)
- When you come the Lord, don’t you want to come away from that time feeling “justified”?
- Feeling clean and renewed?
- To justify is to be “declared righteous.”
- This is an act of God where He pronounces a sinner to be clean, pure and righteous because of your faith in Christ, not because of your religious activity.
- You may be guilty but you have taken that guilt and sin and turned it over to Jesus.
- You have put your sin at the foot of the cross.
- Jesus looks at that sin and says, my blood has paid for that and they are “justified”
- Jesus gives the example of 2 people who go into the temple to pray.
- One is a religious leader and the other is a known sinner.
- The known sinner came away justified but not the religious leader.
- Why?
- The key was humility!
- One went to the temple to impress man and the other went to encounter the Lord.
- Today when you come and meet with the Lord, if your goal is to experience His cleansing, then come humble.
- Strip off the pride!
- Let your prayer be Psalm 139:23; “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.”
- Let His Spirit search you.
- Receive His correction and forgiveness.
- Walk away cleansed, and return home justified!
- Have a great weekend!
