DEVO. 02.05.25
“On the fourth day they gathered in the Valley of Blessing, which got its name that day because the people praised and thanked the Lord there. It is still called the Valley of Blessing today.” (2 Chronicles 20:26 NLT)
- Another way of saying this, is that, “This place was re-named”
- It could have very easily become a “Valley of Death” or “Valley of Destruction”, but No, God had a different name for it!
- When the messengers initially came to King Jehoshaphat, they said “A vast army from Edom is marching against you…They are already at Hazazon-tamar. “(2 Chronicles 20:2) and His reaction was fear.
- 2 Chronicles 20:3 says, “Jehoshaphat was terrified by this news and begged the Lord for guidance.”
- But His fear of the Lord was greater than his fear of man because the rest of verse 3 ends with, “He also ordered everyone in Judah to begin fasting.”
- From this point on, all of His actions show a complete trust in the Lord and His abilities.
- Because He turned His heart from fear to faith in the Lord, God turned His situation around and renamed the valley!
- In the most unusual fighting technique, “Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: “Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.” (20:21)
- The next verse tells us, “As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.”
- “As they began to sing and praise”
- I wonder what things in our life could be renamed, simply by turning our fear into faith?
- The Psalmist says, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me” (Psalm 23:4)
- You don’t have to fear ANY evil, because He is with you!
- God will fight your battle for you, if you let Him!
- He can turn your place of mourning into dancing!
- He can turn your brokenness into healing!
- He can turn that curse into a blessing!
- What needs to be re-named in your life, today!
- Turn your fear over to Him and begin to fill your mouth with praise!
- Don’t talk about the defeat, begin talking about the Victory that is on the way!
- Just because you have not seen the victory yet, does not mean that it’s not on the way!
- Let the Lord Rename your day!
